Lu Zuofu, a contemporary industrialist and social activitist, was simultaneously a famous educator. Before he set up the Minsheng Company in 1925, he had been a typical and sincere "advocate of saving the nation through education" .After he was involved in the Minsheng Company's industrial construction, he still focused on educational development for the enterprise so as to improve the educational development by the industry from setting up "People's Daily" to devoting himself to the common people's social education, the experiment of "New Education" in Southern Sichuang, building the Common People's Educational Monument in Chengdu and the experiment of Rural Educational Construction in Beibei, Chongqing, nearly half a century, it was an important period for China's educational course of modernization to turn, re-think, systematize and enter Chinese probing, during which Lu Zuofu owned plenty of educational theory and educational achievement including common people's education, school education, enterprise education, social education, vocational education, and so on.This article focuses on studying a series of his educational activities, thoughts and theory, to re-define the contemporary educator Lu Zuofu's historical status in the course of contemporary educational development and China's educational modernization, to clear the relation between Lu Zuofu's educational cause and activities and the educational schools of thought and characters at the same time, to frame Lu Zuofu's educational system, to probe the nationwide significance of inter-regional culture and education of Lu Zuofu and to study the significance of use for reference andenlightenment of Lu Zuofu's educational thoughts and theory to contemporary educational development and reform. The purpose is as follows: Firstly, to let the outstanding educator Lu Zuofu enter all over the country or even the world; Secondly, judging by history, to let Lu Zuofu's educational theory better serve today's educational reform; Thirdly, to enrich China's history of contemporary cutural and educational reform, esp. to enlarge Chongqing's important and characteristic status and role in contemporary educational history; Fourthly, to play a greater part for tourism resources development and tourism cultural construction in Chongqing, He chuan, Bei bei, and so on.With a view to this, my essay consists of five aspects: First, Lu Zuofu's brief account of life and viewpoint of culture and education; by analysing Lu Zuofu's life story and social background, I intend to further bring to light his specific viewpoint of culture and education; Second, Lu Zuofu's main educational practice: With the year 1925 as the turning-point, I want to inspect his "New Education" reform experiment in Luzhou, Southern Sichuan and "Common People's Education" experiment in Chengdu, Sichuang before the turning-point, as well as his "Popularity of Rural Education" experiment in Beibi, Chongqing and " the Minsheng Company's Schoolizing" experiment after the turning-point; Third, Lu Zuofu's educational thought: from Lu Zuofu's viewpoint "To make the whole China into modernization" , I plan to study his educational thoughts, such as "Education is the basic principle of the country" , the reform of schooling system, the common people's education mainly through "saving the nation through education" , the vocational education mainly through "Minsheng's Spirit", and so on; Fourth, Lu Zuofu's educational theory: from his thought " Society is the motive force to propel the society forward" , I plan to study his theories of educational purpose, curriculum, teachers' qualification, teaching methods, rural construction, and so on; Fifth, Lu Zuofu's educational thought and theory's significance of use for reference and enlightenment in the course of China's educational modernization: this part tells us how to use Lu Zuofu's educational thought and theory for reference, how to refresh our educational viewpoint, how to reform our teaching methods and how to use...
