With the development of economic knowledge and net technology, tremendous changes have taken place in our society. New challenges have been put forward to ideological and political education in middle schools because of complicated international and domestic situations, along with the increasing number of one-child families. Hence traditional moral education must also keep pace with the changes. The ideological and political qualities are the most important, among which patriotism; collectivism and socialism are the soul of the quality education. This article is based on the investigation, concerning the education of the students' patriotism, collectivism and socialism in a senior middle school. Some facts have been gained as follows: The students' ideological and political beliefs and the factors influencing them are becoming increasing complexed, and the students have the essential patriotic feelings and can appropriately cope with the relation between community and individual. However, their cooperative consciousness is not initiative and their socialist beliefs are not stable. They cannot unify patriotism, collectivism and socialism and are not so satisfied with the present methods, contents and effects of moral education. The facts also discovered that the students of Arts have better ideological and political concept than the ones of science; The students of higher grades are apparently better than the lower. A discussion is also held among some of the teachers and students, at the same time, a conclusion is drawn that we must improve the moral education so as to keep up with the time. That is, we must change the traditional education ideas. The following must be done in details. First, in the field of ideological education, five education (moral education, intellectual education, physical education, aesthetic education andmanual education) should be developed harmoniously; secondly, In terms of moral education objectives, patriotism, collectivism and socialism should be integrated, and the collectivist education as the starting point; Thirdly, As for the content of the moral education, in accordance with the psychological developmental features of senior middle school students. The combination with the traditional and modern moral education should be emphasized and strengthen with its effect and intention; Next, in the methodology, the students-centered strategy should be stressed in which the students' knowledge, emotion, determination and behavior should be integrated. Finally, on the way to the moral education, ideological and political classes should be taken seriously and consistently as the main channel, mixed with the moral concept of the other subjects. Meanwhile, moral training is not limited to the class but out of the class, striving to the combination with school eduation, family, education and social education. Furthermore, assessment of moral education must be further developed and the research of moral training should be emphasized so as to impel the change, from empirical pattern to theoretical pattern and from traditional moral education to modern moral education.
