Research & Implementation Of A Multimedia Web-based Courseware Authoring System

Web Based Hype Media Authoring System can support teacher to develop web courseware. Now teaching based on network is becoming a new filed of CAl, and researching of web courseware authoring system is one of the most important subjects of this field, which has great realistic significance and extensive practical foreground. This paper is based on the R&D of Web Based Hype Media Authoring System-"Webdoctor" which is independently made by CAl Center of CCNU. The author is in charge of the whole system analysis, design and implement. "WebDoctor" is a kind of frame type authoring system, which directed by CAl theoiy, uses object-oriented analysis (OOA) and design(OOD) method. Different with general type multimedia web page editor and player, "WebDoctor" exhibits CAI's speciality very well, especially combines knowledge point transaction with instruction strategy, instruction theory and instruction method. Eg, it can control and change instruction flow (include prescription study flow and respond control flow), can offer answer handling and response mode selection (such as free response, time-limit response), etc. After introduces basic theory of authoring system, the article deeply discusses some important techniques of this system and compares and filters them, then determines the technical route of the system development: Uses extended relational multimedia database to save and exchange information; Uses hype media technique to organize and display information; Use Client-based application technique (Java applet) to access web information, etc. The article discusses system requirement analysis and object analysis. By using deeper- by-step method to analyze the application system we get the basic goal and function of development. By using OOA method we decompose and induce the system object. Then the article simply describes the function module chart and develop environment. The article discusses detailed some key technologies and their implementation in the system, include: I) Uses OOD method creates relational database, and summaries the rules of mapping from application object model to relational database creatively. II) Uses multithread technique to implement response sensitively interface. III) Uses clipping area technique and non-display buffer technique to solve blinking problem when screen redrawing. IV) Discusses, compares and decides to use JDBC 3-layer web database access mode and J7DBC Driver type. ~In~Iv~ MASTERS THES[S At last, after simply introduces specialities of this authoring system, we also puts forward the improvement direction according the shortcomings.
