Life is so precious that a world without life is incomplete. Our material life has been enriched with the improvement of science and technology, the development of economy and social transition. While facing unprecedented opportunities, the undergraduate confront unparalleled life dilemma. Some of them misunderstand and ignore the value and meaning of life because of the diversity of values. Suicide, murder and campus violence happen frequently, which make undergraduate life education the extremely urgent task.Life education in China began from 1990s, when theories and viewpoints of operations about elementary and secondary schools flourished. However, there has not been a theory system of undergraduate life education and the practical effectiveness is not satisfactory. As an important transitional period, university provides the young people with new opportunities. So life education in this period can help the undergraduate realize the greatness and preciousness of life, and understand the value of all life in the world. As a result, we need to reexamine undergraduate life education and clarify its meaning to help the undergraduate have a right idea and pursuit of life, promoting the quality of their life and forming the right life value. In consequence of this idea, the author will begin the study from the concepts and thought roots of life and life education, analyze the present situation and make a careful discussion and constructive thinking of its contents, goals and implementation. The article has five parts, as follow:The first part will give readers a general idea of the study's background, importance, plan and methods. This is the fundamental structure and integrated concept of the study.The second part will discuss the scientific connotation of life and life education, analyze and compare different philosophical theories of life by philosophy at all times and in all over the world. This is the historical background and theoretical foundation for the further study.The third part will focus on the present situation of undergraduate life education. This study will discuss six wrong attitudes toward life by the undergraduate, including:the ignorance of life, the denial of life, the violence towards life, treating life like a game, lack of coping capabilities and wrong death concept. Then the study will discover the deep reasons from subject, university, society and family perspectives.The forth part will mainly talk about the goal and content of undergraduate life education. Basing on them, this study will formulate a theoretical system of undergraduate life education, which will benefiting the clarification of educational direction.The fifth part will promote some constructive thoughts of undergraduate life education, including:improving teaching staff quality and establishing an independent life education course; penetrating life education into the present courses; establishing counseling network; fostering the undergraduate's life value in practice; creating a favorable external environment for the undergraduate.
