Students Cultivate The Spirit Of Tolerance Under The Perspective Of A Harmonious Society

To create a harmonious society has been put forward as a policy in the report of communist party representative's 16th conference, especially in the forth plenary session of the sixteenth central committee. In the new phase of the new century, it is the inner demand of the social development to create a harmonious society and it is the essence of the implement of the scientific idea of development to establish a harmonious society. The socialistic version of harmony is a society which is filled with democracy and, justice, Democracy and the rule of law,Justice,Honest and friendly,Dynamic,Stability and order,Harmony between man and nature; the harmonious society should be a society whose social structure is reasonable, and this is the premise of the establishment of a harmonious society. The interval demand of harmonious society is the following:every aspect, element and part of human society should be coordinated, and they should be in order. Harmony doesn't mean only one voice which can be heard, only one means which can be used. The bottom line of harmony is acceptance, which means that the foundation of harmony is tolerance. And this requires modern people to treat tolerance as an essential moral notion. Therefore, at present, when we are trying to establish a harmonious society, tolerance should be one of the collective values which individual should observe and maintain. Anyone as long as he is equipped with the quality of tolerance can enhance himself and, eventually, make himself a qualified modern person. As the successors and builders of socialistic modernization, and the important role in the establishment of harmonious society, undergraduates need to have the quality of tolerance more. However, owing to the fact that most of modern undergraduates were born in the 1980s and 1990s and they are the only child in their families which make themselves spoiled by their parents, most of them develop a self centered personality in their mind. And they meet difficulties in developing their personalities. A sort of special personality, self-centered personality which is characterized by self-will, selfish, jealousy and arrogance, is being cultivated in those families with that kind of environment. Combined with this personality, people would not be sociable and can't accustom themselves to the collective life. They would always have trouble with the others and wouldn't ready to forgive them. As a result, they would have a weak interpersonal circle. Thus, nowadays when we are trying to establish a harmonious society, it becomes obviously important and significant to strengthen the cultivation of undergraduates'tolerance-quality. Meanwhile, to foster a sense of tolerance is the inner requirement of the establishment of harmonious society and all-sided development of undergraduates.This essay consists of four parts: Partâ… :tolerance and the spirit of tolerance are defined from both Chinese and western perspectives.
