"Three dimensional goals"is short for the curriculum objectives"knowledge and skills, procedures and methods, emotional attitudes and values"that are presented in the new elementary education reform."The three dimension goals"is one of the advanced ideas in the new curriculum, which aims to change the traditional curriculum objective that attaches great importance to knowledge and skills and pays little attention to procedures, methods, emotional attitudes and values."Participating Type Teaching Method"is a cooperative teaching method that gives priority to learners, makes most of flexible and visual teaching method, encourages learners to play an active role in the procedure of teaching, enhances the information communication and feedback between teachers and learners or between learners, enables learners have a good knowledge of what they have learnt and put it into practice."Participating Type Teaching Method"is an important channel to the fulfillment of the new curriculum, and it is able to integrate the three dimension goals. This project is guided by the theories of the new curriculum and by studying the theories and practice about Participating Type Teaching Method both abroad and in China. By combining the characteristics of both middle school students and biology, and by researching Participating Type Teaching Method in the class, this project explores the possibility and effectiveness of three dimensional goals in teaching biology in middle schools.This thesis consists of six parts. Part one introduces the background of this project, and explains the necessity, possibility and effectiveness of integrating three dimensional goals from two aspects of needs of the new curriculum reform and teaching. Part two combs correlative concepts and summarizes the development of participating teaching from the perspective of pedagogy, psychology and so on. Part three put emphasis on expatiating on the strategies of adopting integrating three dimensional goals through participating teaching, such as creating attractive lessons, cultivating stable interest, designing activities painstakingly. Part four designs the procedures of participating teaching on the basis of students'participation. High-quality teaching lies in the level of integrating three dimensional goals by teaching. Therefore, teachers should pay more attention to the design and implementation of teaching procedures. Teachers use the four guiding procedures, that is, enlightening, guidance, solving problems widening the knowledge, to make sure that students at various levels play an active, initiative and delighted part in emotions, thoughts and activities during the entire process and they all have the chance to develop them fully. Participating Type Teaching Method combines cognitive education and emotional education, making contributions to the forming and development of metcognition and achievements of integrating three dimensional goals. Through analyzing some typical methods and cases, the rest two parts do research on the application of adopting participating type teaching method in biology teaching and changes of students'qualities in every aspect, summing up successful experience and discussing about problems to provide a follow-up study reference.After comparing and analyzing the teaching effects of the experimental class and the compared class after a one-term experiment, we can clearly observe the distinctions in grades, emotions, attitudes, values and self-learning ability. The result of the experiment suggests that participating type teaching method is popular among students and the effects are outstanding. This kind of teaching method helps students master knowledge, show their personalities and thoughts, enhance their abilities and qualities in biology, develop an active and initiative attitude towards study, establish a correct value, integrate and carry out the three dimensional objective, and ensure the full development of students.
