Grassland sporting event "Nadam" is one with national style and features, created by great and strong ancient Mongolian during nomadic life in the vast grasslands of north China. As rare works of the human society, global sporting event "the Olympic movement" was created by ancient Greeks in social war environment and sacrificial activities of profound religious tinge. They experienced different forming and development courses, and as for the origin and development, both had close relationship with mode of production, life custom, geographical environment, religion, military, politics and economy at that time. They both become sports cultural phenomena with rich connotation and distinctive characteristics. After thousands of years, modern Nadam is no longer just an event of Mongolia sports, culture and entertainment, but also comprehensive activities that, with Nadam as carrier, promote the development of economy and tourism resources development and carry forward the grassland culture. Nadam embodies its ecological culture idea and cultural value with primitively simple sacrifice ceremony "Aobao", core contents "man's three skills", singing, dancing, and entertainment. "Olympic" brings all sorts of sports'functions into play sufficiently, with its influence far beyond sport category. It has ignorable influences on politics, economy, philosophy, culture, art, news media, and many other aspects in today's world. It almost transcends space-time, religion, race, even countries, constantly expressing the humanistic spirit and universal values which is called "Olympic".This paper analyzes the origin, development and contemporary status of both, focusing on the comparative analysis of the connotation of Nadam culture:"advocating nature, cherishing lives, harmonious coexistence between person and person, human and the nature", and the connotation of Olympic culture:"harmonious development, unity and friendship, fair competition, focusing on participation, striving, winning glory for the country". This paper points out the success and deficiencies of the two culture development, and that they should benefit from each other and complement mutually. The prospects of the two cultures are viewed in order to achieve common development.
