Social adaption is a process to change our psychology and behavior for keeping harmony with the surrounding environment. The study on social adaption of college students is significance to enhance social adaptation level and cultivate social adaptation of college students. Coping style is the psychological and behavioral performance when the students face difficulties and frustration. However, physical exercise is one of the ways affecting psychology and social adaptation.Whether social adaption level of the students who take part in regular physical exercise is higher than ordinary college students, all of which are a hot topic in current research. This research is on the basis of relevant literature, using the Zhen Richang's social adaptation questionnaire and Xie Yaning's coping style questionnaire, compare social adaptation and coping styles of sport and non-sport major collegiate students to explore the role of physical exercise and provide a useful reference for carrying out sports practice to college students.In the study, we used questionnaires to investigate social adaption and coping style of students. On the basis of investigation, we used analysis of statistics to analyze the differences in gender, grade and major. Moreover, we compare the differences in gender and grade of students major in sport and non-sport. The conclusions as following:(A) The college students'were at the middle of social adaptation in Wu Han, the level of girls' social adaption is significant higher than boys. The level of social adaption and social lives adaptation of the students in grade 4 is significant higher than the students in grade 1 and grade 2. The level of interpersonal relaitions adaption and learning adaptation of the students in grade 4 is significant higher than the freshmen. The students major in sport who choose individual item is better than students choose team item. The level of social adaptation and social lives adaptation of the students major in sport in grade 2 are higher than students major in non-sport in grade 2.(B) Overall, the coping style of students is good in Wu Han and girls more likely choose active coping styles than boys. Compare coping style of students major in sport and non-sport, there is a significant difference of male students in active coping style and the sport male students are more active. They including Gender and major, major and grade interactively affect social adaptation. (C)There is a remarkable positive correlation between social adaptation and active coping style and a remarkable negative correlation between social adaptation and negative coping style. Furth more, both aspect of coping style play important roles in the prediction of social adaptation.
