There are many factors that may lead to differentiation of student achievements on chemical courses, but chemical knowledge causing the differentiation concentrated mainly in several key chemical concepts. To understand the reasons of differentiation in learning chemistry, this study hold the point that the characteristic of memory, expression of speech and simple inference are main factors that caused differentiation of achievements of middle school students when they are learning chemical concepts, based on the theory of cognitive psychology.Through selecting three chemical knowledge that cause the differentiation of middle school students in each period of learning chemistry which are chemical terms, solubility, transformation between materials, three sets of examination tests are designed to value the differentiation of students in learning chemistry concepts to make research on the characteristic of memory, expression of speech and simple inference of students when learning chemistry concept. A1 test is designed to test the differentiation and the reason of differentiation among students after they studied chemical terms. A2 test is designed to analyze the differentiation and the reason of differentiation among students after they studied solubility. A3 test is designed to analyze the differentiation and the reason of differentiation among students after they studied transformation between materials. The experiment selected 68 samples, grouped the students into three levels according to their academic achievements. The tests are performed after they studied chemical concepts.Experiment result demonstrates that, while students learn the same chemical concept with various academic levels, sharp differences exists in the characteristic memory and expression of speech and simple inference. With the increment of the chemical concepts, along with the deepening of the chemical expertise, the sharp differences of students learning different chemical concepts raised, along with the obvious distribution of the scores in chemical test.In corresponding with the academic levels of students, the memory characteristic, expression of speech and simple inference are greatly influenced, while learning chemical concepts. There are close relations between the features of differentiation of grades and its factors of students learning chemistry. The difference of memory characteristic leads to the difference of both speech expression and ability of simple inference. The difference of memory characteristic, speech expression and simple inference in basic chemical terms, give rise to the difference of memory characteristic, speech expression and simple inference in knowledge of element compounds.The conclusion of this study is hopefully applied with appreciate strategy and method of education into the teaching. With suitable trainings, the expression of speech and simple inference of students in learning chemical concepts are significantly improved and enhanced.
