As the core of self-concept, self-esteem has a very important influence on people's mental health and has been the hot topic and focus of psychological research. Greenwald & Banaji put forward the concept of implicit self-esteem. They think that implicit self-esteem and explicit self-esteem are relatively independent, that is, the correlation between them is weak. Implicit self-esteem refers to the effect of self-attitude of individual assessment on self-related or unrelated things and that can not be introspective. In contrast, explicit self-esteem is self-concept which is conscious and can be relatively controlled by thinking.Since the concept of implicit self-esteem was raised, more and more research has been done in this field, which has greatly enriched self-esteem study. However, the relationship between implicit and explicit self-esteem has been controversial. The structures of their measurement are quite different, which may affect the correlation between explicit and implicit self-esteem. One purpose of this study is to match the structures of measurement, using AMP method (Affect Misunderstanding Procedure) in order to rule out the possible isolation due to measurement difference.Higher vocational college students are an important part of higher education. Most research on their self-esteem used questionnaire method and the results showed that they have more psychological barriers than ordinary people and are prone to psychological problems. This study takes vocational college students as subjects and simultaneously tests their implicit self-esteem and explicit self-esteem with experimental measurement. Also an experiment on enhancing self-esteem is conducted in this study, hoping to provide a theoretical guide to the educators of vocational college students and to explore effective way of enhancing self-esteem, so that they can improve their self-confidence, study and live happily. The results are as follows:(1) The effect of implicit self-esteem is significant on female subjects, that is, their implicit self-evaluation is significantly higher than that of others.(2) The explicit self-evaluation of female subjects is significantly higher than that of others.(3) The implicit and explicit self-esteem of female subjects are significantly higher than those of male subjects.(4) The explicit self-esteem of subjects is higher than implicit self-esteem.(5) The implicit self-esteem and explicit self-esteem appear isolated, showing weak correlation.(6) Learning materials altered the level of implicit self-esteem.(7) Learning materials altered the level of explicit self-esteem.
