David Elliott's "Practical Philosophy of Music Education", which is one of the most important theories on Philosophy of Music Education nowadays, considers that the best way to carry out music education is participating, feeling and performing music in person. High school music programs was divided into six modules, namely, music appreciation, singing, playing, writing, music and dance, music and drama performances in New Curriculum Reform of the 21 st century. The music appreciation must be integrated with the music performance organically, through which all students could obtain basic music literacy, furthermore provide more choices or the possibility of further study to students who have different hobbies or a certain expertise. The main purpose of this study was to investigate how to improve student's ability of music performance and music comprehension in music appreciation course, by using teaching methods of performance, furthermore enhance their basic music literacy.This study adopted the Education Act method with the combination of the quality and quantity study. The study subject is the 218 students in the four classes for grade one in a high school in Jiaxing City, Zhejiang province. The study tools include the designing of test papers for before-and after-test for display teaching method plan and music basis, which is based on the corresponding theories of new classes' standard and on the practical situation of students. This study gave the teaching activity and the before-and after-test which were exerted by investigator themselves, and in the meantime observed and recorded the class teaching and gave investigation and teaching achievements show after the class, so as to explore the change for capability of the music basic accomplishment and express ability. All data were statistics analyzed with Spssl2.0, and all statistics methods are_Dependent design double sample test average,Library reliability,Experts validity analysis with the qualitative analysis combining the class observation record and teaching effect investigation.The Results indicated as follows: 1. Teaching methods of performance improved the basic music literacy of students remarkably. Through the statistic analysis about the pre-and after-test of music basis, all results of after-test were higher than that of pre-test for each groups of every classes, which showed notable discrepancy.2. The note of class observation revealed that Teaching methods of performance combined with the music appreciation and music performance organically, namely, performing under the comprehension of music, and increasing the comprehension of music during the course of performing.3. Teaching methods of performance foster the student with positive attitude to music learning. This kind of learning provided a free space to students. According to the theme of music, they could exert the imagination as much as one likes, and behave with this aim, so the good habit of preparing and practicing music was brought up.4. Teaching methods of performance deliver the student with positive attitude to participate music class. During frequent performance activity, a majority of students open, surpass and show oneself gradually, make oneself to obtain the feeling of success continuously.5. Teaching methods of performance enhances the performance level of students. Through music teaching and the exhibition of learning achievement, the performance level of every class gained a certain increase. Each learning achievements were showed to the students and teachers all over the school in the art festival.6. Teaching methods of performance enhance the cooperation ability between students. Under the organization of group leader, the members cooperates each other to complete the theme activity together. This kind of cooperation was maintained from training in pre-course to exhibition in course, which make the exhibition the music theme better and better.
