Since china's national physical culture and heritage of the World Lion Dance'Wong Fei Hung'Championship was firstly hosted successfully during 2005 golden week of national day, lion dance top players from different countries and regions come to the famous martial arts master Wong Fei Hung's homeland-Guangdong Foshan Xiqiao for the Lion Dance Championship.Because of its big-scale, the annual sport event has become an important influence factor to the local GDP. The event is hosted out door, which makes the operation more difficult compared to indoor sports. The operation of the sport event has been commercialized, and the hoster must be responsible for all kinds of risks.Though many literatures have been done with risk management of sports, there are few related to Chinese traditional sport games. Moreover, the studies of risk management in sports are more qualitative discription, little quantitative analysis; more theories, little empirical study. Nearly no research has been done with Lion Dance competition. The present paper will be focused on study of several risk factors, based on risk management process, including risk classification, risk identification, risk valuation analysis, and as well as risk control. As a famous Chinese traditional sport event, the 2009 5th World Lion Dance'Wong Fei Hung'Championship will be used as a typical case. In addition, the dynamic study is aimed to manage and generalize the perspective and existing problems of the risk management process of the traditional sport event, and provide concrete solutions to the existing problems. In the case study, the method of Analytic Hierarahy Process has been used to assess and analysis the risk factors of 2009 5th World Lion Dance 'Wong Fei Hung' Championship quantitatively. It is found that the organization and management risk, natural risk and commercial risk cover more than 90% of the total risk, which agrees well with the spot. This finding would provide effective references to the sponsors to response to the risks on time.
