| The pursuit of postgraduate education has always been a hot topic in recent years, and wide attention of scholars has also been attracted to the motivation of the undergraduates. However, the current research, which is lack of the analysis on the forming process of the motivation, is mainly focused on the affecting factors and description of it. This research attempts to further the study from motivation self-adjustment perspective on the motivation of the pursuit of postgraduate education on the basis of past research. On the basis of the former papers, the types and construction of their motivation have been analyzed through the in-depth interviews of the 16 candidates for the postgraduate exams in 2009, 2010 and 2011. Through the in-depth analysis of the interview materials, the exploratory conclusions have been obtained as follows:First, the motivation construction is a dynamic process, which can be divided into imbalances and demand, perception and choice, behavior and feedback, regulation and continuing. These four links are connected and influenced mutually. Second, the motivation is complex and various, which can be divided into developing, responsible, proof, interest, compensation and escaping types. Both the structure and the influencing factors are complicated. Third, different motivations can lead to different results. Different motivations will lead to different states of the review and influence the learning attitude during advanced study as well.According to the problems reflected from the research, suggestions have been put forward to advocate the students to further their study and guide them to do career planning and to take an active attitude towards postgraduate study. |
