Under the new concept of teaching materials, a teacher should not only be a textbook user, but also a researcher and developer on this textbook. The textbook is the basic carrier of new curriculum ideas and an important bridge between a teacher and his/her students. It is quite important to study textbook content optimization problems for concept changes in teaching materials, teaching effectiveness improvement and implementation of new curriculum standards.Studying on the currently used geography textbook in junior high school, this paper surveys the textbook application, analyses existing problems for teachers and students in textbook application. Combining with junior high school student's interest, hobbies, and cognitive characteristics, it formulates material optimization strategies, and attempts to find optimization direction for material teaching. The study purpose is to activate students thinking, change the learning value and concept of students, and train their creative thinking and innovation.Based on the topic of multiple intelligences theory, constructivist theory, learning theory community et al, this paper uses questionnaires, literature, action research methods and lessons learned. The research focuses on the following three areas:Firstly, how to make textbook materials to be more lively, with more interesting, informative and educational content in one, to attract students willing to independently study. Secondly, how to make student development as the center in teaching, to provide a variety of different learning materials for individual students, to achieve personal development of students. Thirdly, how to make teaching materials to be a platform for exchange, cooperation and innovation between teachers and their students as well as among students, with teacher→textbook→student circulation, to prompt continued innovation and development in the teaching and learning. The main results are:1. Investigating and anglicizing the level of interest of junior high school students in geography, application and ideal geography characteristics of students. Selecting the main topic of the present research questions.2. Developing three optimization strategies in junior high school geography textbook application. Firstly, realizing the "four modernizations" in teaching to strengthen student's "affinity" towards textbooks. Secondly, changing teaching materials as a "learning materials" to meet different needs of individual students. Thirdly, inspiring students editing teaching materials, in order to build lively and colorful teaching resources between teachers and their students.3. Summarizing the results of junior high school geography textbooks optimizing application. Describing characteristics of teaching materials fitting for students. Giving some possible recommendations on optimizing applications about teaching materials for teachers. The innovation of this paper:The "four modernizations" of textbook, changing teaching materials for students, inspiring students to understand teaching materials, so that application of the optimization process is also the one that teachers and their students participate together in the creative process. Students can research textbooks, reference exchange, share learning resources, achieve fun learning environment.
