"Education- in which treasure hides"says that there are four pillars in education: learning to know, learning to do, learning to live together and learning to develop. Learning to do requires us to learn to work in the certain environment, which emphasizes the change from skills to capability.The comprehensive capabilities include practical skills, the international skills, social ability, collective and cooperative attitude, initiative skills, ability to manage and resolve conflicts and the courage to take risks.Manual-work is an integrated practice course about manual production and material application, which is a part of design applications area. So students will enrich the direct experience and develop the training ability, creativity, practical skills and the lifelong learning ability. Drawing forth from hand- made in art subject, this paper will go on some research on how to develop the students'practical ability from the theory to practice.It will push forward the development of practical skills.There are four parts as follows.In the introduction, I will discuss the peculiarity and interests of hand- made and the do-it-yourself boom. Then the argument will lead from the emphasis of the aim to help students to build a design sense and improve the practical ability"design application"on learning area in the art curriculum standards for full- time compulsory education (trivial version).Part I, with the beginning of the research background, I will analyze t current status of the teaching manual section and the survey questionnaires on the training of the students'practical ability in Normal School to lay the basis of the next research and practice.Part II, I will make a statement of the definition, type, characteristics and teaching significance of hand- made. The manual section can improve the students learning ability and creativity. That's what I will focus on. The manual section will provide the students with the fun of creation and strengthen the proficiency of hands from clumsy and skilled, from copying to innovation, from the impatient to the patient. Design sense, practical ability and creative spirit will be developed in the section.Part III, I will make a discussion and research on the training of students'manual ability. There are colorful teaching content and a variety of craft materials in manual courses, which supplies a good practical chance for students and will train their manual abilities and develop the creativity ability.To develop students'manual ability, we need take different teaching strategies. And in the thesis, I will take four teaching cases to prove my ideas: 1. Holding theme-oriented activities (paper puppet). 2. Concentrating on the form law-oriented activities (paper collage). 3. Taking the material prosperities as the leading point (paper relief). 4. Focusing on the problem led to the creation (the development and utilization of waste paper). The teaching ideas, processes and outcomes will draw forth in my own teaching courses in the training manual verification of students on the practical ability and creativity. And then the importance and necessity of manual lesson will be welcomed warmly.Part IV, in cultivate students' ability in handicraft class teaching cases, for example in ZhiGong with specific teaching practice ability cultivation of ways and methods, fully prove improve students' practical ability is formed in continuous training and strengthening gradually .In this thesis, I will put forward the strategy to develop manual abilities in four ways. Firstly, to understand the teaching content and cubiculum of paper work. Secondly, to make the teaching objective clear and train manual and creativity ability. Thirdly, to pay attention to the teaching process and improve the teaching mode. Lastly, to share the products and to stress the diverse teaching evaluation.We will get the conclusions through practice. (1)Handmade training improves the abilities of students(2)manual course extends the creativity of students (3)Manual training practice forms the personality and quality of students. The mutual combination of hand and brain will promote the skilled hands, the brain agile and achieve the ingenuity. In this thesis, I will make recommendations on the future course and share the imagination and prospects of the manual section. The manual teaching in the next will be broader and more possible to approach to life. And it will be more humane, with more diverse forms and more resources available. So the manual section will be chosen as the favorite subject by students.
