Social construction, closely related to the people's well-being, is an important part of the overall arrangements for the cause of socialism with Chinese characteristics. During the 13 years from the Fourth Plenary Session of the Thirteenth Central Committee to the Sixteenth Congress, the third generation of collective leadership with Jiang Zemin at its core probed actively into social construction of socialism and formed a comparatively systematic theory of social construction by carrying on and developing the social construction thoughts of Marxism, Mao Zedong Thought and Deng Xiaoping Theory in accordance with development of the times and the changing situation of our country.This paper studies on the social thought of the third generation of collective leadership from the perspective of the Party's history research.Firstly, the paper explores the theoretical origin and practical basis of the formation of the third generation of collective leadership's social construction thought.Then, it focus on elaborating the main contents of the social construction thought of the third generation of collective leadership, which includes the strategic objectives, the basic principles and the main tasks of social construction.And then, it analyses the outstanding features of the third generation of collective leadership's social construction thought.i.e. The value orientation of social construction is changed, the practical approach of social construction is updated, and the key breakthrough of the social construction in practical field is achieved.At last, the paper discusses the great theoretical and practical significance of the social thought of the third generation of collective leadership.
