The immigrant population makes a special group in the process of urbanization. Generally speaking, peasant worker is neither a complete industrial worker nor a peasant of traditional rural society. Since peasant workers played an important role on the infrastructural construction and economic prosperity in the transitional society, making a positive contribution to the social wealth accumulation. However, during the accelerating period of development in China, as the rural population gradually becomes urbanized, such large-scale social group has brought new social problems. Over the past twenty years since reform and the opening up, significant improvement has taken place in the management system of cities and the urban-rural segregation policy that derives from the household registration system has become a bit flexible. In spite of that, the traditional urban management system only affirms the right of city dwellers, but not of those migrant workers. Due to the coexistence of the immigration-friendly economic system and the immigration-isolated social system, social policies cause more and more social problems about peasant workers, leaving negative impact on the economic development and social stability. Furthermore, since the employment of rural labor won't be a temporary or accidental social phenomenon, peasant worker-related social problems will be long-standing ones. The research aim is to obtain a profound insight of urbanization problems of the workers. To figure out what social and institutional barriers they encounter during the social adaptation, and eventually give some possible and reasonable advise to the question.
