A Study On The Lack Of The Farmer-turned-workers' Rights And Interests Protection

With the acceleration of the industrialization, modernization and urbanization after the reform and opening of China, more and more farmers crowded into cities to work and make a large-scale group. According to the state statistical bureau, at present the farmer-turned-workers population in our country has already surpassed 200 million. Although they contributed a lot to the development of the national economy, their labor rights, social protection rights ,spirit and culture rights , political rights and so on are frequently infringed upon as the inferior group. There are lots of reasons to the phenomenon,including history, policy and institution, government and society, economy as well as the migrant worker themselves. The lack of the rights and interests of the farmer-turned-workers will cause more and more social conflicts and set setbacks to the course of the urbanization. So, protecting the rights and interests of farmer-turned-workers is meaningful.It is the critical part to solve the contradictions between town and country and solve the issues concerning agriculture, countryside and farmers. It is the major problem to construct a harmonious society.This thesis can be divided into five major parts: the first part is the introduction to the thesis; the second part is the summary of the farmer-turned-workers; the third part is the description of the necessity to the protection farmer-turned-workers' rights and interests and the present situation; the forth part is the reason of the problem;the fifth part is the strategy and suggestion .As the author view, in order to protect the legitimate rights and interests of farmer-turned-worker and make them entitled national treatment, we must reform the system on residence certificate, break the barrier on institutions, settle the relationship between town and country, transform the functions of government, strengthen the low system, standardize the administration according to law, strengthen the urban management, advocate the new civilized practice and heighten the organization in thefarmer-turned-workers themselves. So we can protect the rights and interests of the farmer-turned-worker,and the society will be just and stable.
