As two of the important international forces in the world, both China and the EU have received more and more concerns. China and the EU established diplomatic relations in the 1970s, but under the Cold-War system, the relationship between China and the EU can only be derivative relations. With the end of the Cold War, China and the EU have adjusted their strategies. Both sides have put the other on a significant position in their diplomatic strategies. Since the mid-nineties, the relationship between China and the EU has seen a fundamental change. This paper takes a unique perspective that is from the Chinese scholars' cognitions to understand Sino-EU relations. Such a perspective with a premise, namely, Sino-EU relations depends not only on the objective development of bilateral relations, but also on the bilateral cognitions to each other. Cognition is not only the stimulation by objection but also the process of subjective construction. Therefore, cognitions would be incorrect sometimes. In this paper, I want to establish Chinese scholars' cognitive patterns to Sino-EU relations and to find the characteristics of China scholars' cognitions towards Sino-EU relations through the analysis of Chinese scholars' cognitions on Sino-EU relations, and if possible, to find problems exist in Chinese scholars' cognitions, so that to get a better understanding of the Sino-EU relations, and to help deal with challenges in the future of Sino-EU relations. This paper consists of five chapters: The first chapter is the Preface, which includes the writing purpose, domestic and foreign relative researches, the key concepts and literature review; The second chapter is about Chinese scholars' cognition on Sino-EU relations, judging by the contents of the 68 selected articles and the authors' point of views. Chapter three is to compare the similarities and differences among Chinese scholars, Chinese general population, and European scholars toward cognitions no Sino-EU relations. These comparisons are to highlight the characteristics of Chinese scholars' cognitions on Sino-EU relations. Chapter four is the models of Chinese scholars' cognitions to Sino-EU relations, a summary of Chinese scholars' cognitive characteristics of Sino-EU relations, and the reflections on the problems may exist in the Chinese scholars' cognitions on China-EU relations. The end of this article concluded that the Chinese scholars on Sino-EU relations based on the judgment of the world trends of globalization and multi-polarization. It is not just a judgment of the objective world trends, but also contains some subjective elements. They are the realistic values of the common interests and the balance of power behind that judgment. Realism is an important consideration, but since the new century with the spread of multilateral mechanisms, which highlights the functions of norms, equality and multilateral consultation, Chinese scholars should also pay more attention to the concept of multilateralism and the practice of the multilateral cooperation. In that case, Chinese scholars can provide more theoretical basis to contemporary China's diplomatic options and help china make more reasonable policy to European Union.
