Chinese Communist Party's Course History Toward The Goal Of Modernization Since The Founding Of The People's Republic Of China

Modernization has been Chinese people's dream and relentless pursuit since 1840. After a century of twists and turns struggle, New China was founded in 1949, signaling that the historic responsibility of leading China's modernization ultimately falls on the shoulders of the Chinese communists. Since the founding of new China, the Chinese Communist Party's objectives of modernization have experienced a deepening process.In the early period of New China, the party's goal of China's modernization was very clear, that is to focus on the achievement of national industrialization. In spite of this understanding one-sidedness, it grasped the key and the core of the modernization, touched its substance, and has played a considerable positive effect.After 1954, the party gradually developed the modernization into the "four modernizations", that is, "modernization in agriculture, industry, national defense, the science and technology." Compared with "industrialization", obviously, "the four modernizations," is more comprehensive and more scientific. However, there is no doubt that this target still focuses on material aspects, but understanding in other aspects is insufficient and inadequate.To enter the new era of reform and opening up, with the deepening understanding to modernization, the party is gradually targeting the modernization of the "all-round modernization", namely, to establish a prosperous, democratic, civilized and harmonious modern socialist country as China's modernization goals. This goal contains the material, system, spirit aspects and so on, which marks that the party's understanding to China's modernization goals has a sublimate, qualitative leap forward.Reviewing evolution of the Party's understanding to China modernization since the founding of our country, we got the following revelation: emancipating the mind, seeking truth from facts is the party's ideological guarantee to deepen understanding of modernization; the outcome and experience of other countries' modernization is the useful reference; the relentless pursuit to modernization incarnates party's accurately and profoundly grasping on the historical trend and people's fundamental interests; at the same time, the understanding to modernization is not to be once and for all, which needs to go through a long-term and unceasing deepening process.
