Concept of honor and disgrace is the most basic and general category in Chinese traditional ethics. It is not only the core and foundation of traditional moral system, but also the important part of modern ethical system. The concept of honor and disgrace looks on Confucianism as its core,and it has its root in Chinese culture .It is limited tlo a special time and space background. chairman Hu Jintao proposed the the Socialist Maxims of Honor and Disgrace including "eight dos and eight don'ts". It learns the essence of the Chinese traditional concept of honor and diagrace breaks through the various limitation. It is the moral combination of Chinese traditional honor and characteristics of the times. It is the heritage and exceeding the Chinese traditional concept of honor and disgrace. This paper illustrates the moral inheritance basing on the traditional concept of honor and disgrace from three perspectives: the patriotic ideology, the people-oriented idea and harmonious ideology . the Socialist Maxims of Honor and Disgrace exceeds the Chinese traditional concept of honor and disgrsce including the following six aspects: the different nature of the two classes, the modern ways of thinking change, from serving the community to "serve the people", modern conversion from the traditional ideal personality structure to the comprehensive development of the modern people, transformation from the ethics and morality of the modern values of the socialist, from the traditional thinking of virtue to the modern conversion of Virtue. In conclusion: Chinese traditional honor and disgrace is inherent cultural roots of the Socialist Maxims of Honor and Disgrace; Acting as the core ,"Eight-dos and don'ts" is a heritage and exceeding unity of the Chinese traditional concept of honor and disgrace under the new historical conditions. |
