The Historical Revelation Reflected In The Relationship Between The Technological Progress And The Postwar Local Wars

After the second world war, almost every country made progress in science and technology by leaps and bounds. The high-tech impelled greatly the social development and produced the changes in different fields. But when the scientific and technological results come to the military field, it is certain that it will have great impact on the war in the aspects like course and consequence. Therefore, the scientific and technological progress and the military changes are tied up. During over sixty years after the second world war, the local wars never ceased despite the fact that the large-scale wars between allied countries never occurred, like the Korean War, the Vietnam War, Middle East War, the Iran-Iraq War, British-Argentine Malvinas Islands War, Gulf War, the Afghanistan War, Kosovo War, the Iraq War, etc.. These local wars, especially the ones happened after 1980s, all adopted the most advanced arms at the time except the nuclear weapons. Then, what role does these hi-tech results play in the local wars and what is the essential relationship between the technological progress and the local wars?This thesis will discuss it from four aspects. The first part will give a survey about the postwar scientific and technological progress and generalize the basic law of the postwar local wars with the clue of the application of the scientific and technological results in local wars and with the reference of the typical examples. The second part will analyze systematically the scientific and technological progress'propelling effect on the deep-seated changes brought by postwar local wars from the perspectives of the form of the energetic release, the special and temporal change as well as the gradually obvious controllability. The third part mainly focuses on the development and the application of information technology, nanotechnology, Biotechnology and new-concept weapons to illustrate the future influence brought by the scientific and technological progress and foretell the tendency of the future hi-tech wars. The fourth part, which suggests how to strengthen the national defense and which comes to the conclusion that restricting wars is one of the aims of developing science and technology, is the general principle reflected in the postwar hi-tech local wars.
