Study About Chinese Communist Party' Policies On Taiwan Question

Taiwan is a part of Chinese territory by ancient time. The origin of Taiwan question is Chinese War of Liberation, and it is an internal affairs. How to handle the Taiwan question becomes a solemn mission of the Communist Party of China given by history and times. In order to settle the Taiwan question and push the national unit, Mao Zedong, Deng Xiaoping, Jiang Zemin and Hu Jintao, who are the key figures in every generation collective leadership of the Communist Party of China, have made un-remitting efforts and exploration and according to the development of times, pronounced a series of constructive suggestions and ideas.The paper is divided into five parts. Part I: the first-generation central leaderships' policies on the Taiwan question. The first-generation central leaderships' policies on the Taiwan question had a change from"by resort to war"to"by peaceful means". Part II :the second-generation central leaderships' policies on the Taiwan question. The second generation central leaderships, especially Deng Xiaoping, formulated "Peaceful reunification; one country, two systems". Part HI :the third generation central leaderships' policies on the Taiwan question. General Secretary Jiang Zemin of the CPC Central Committee pointed out: We shall work steadfastly for the great cause, adhering to the principles of "peaceful reunification" and "one country, two systems", and pronounced basic contents of "Jiang Zemin's Eight-point Proposal". PartIV: the new generation central leaderships' policies on the Taiwan question. Hu Jintao, who represents the new generation of leading nucleus of the central authorities, put forward four recommendations. Part V: conclusion the every generation central leaderships' characteristics on the Taiwan question.Based on different situations on both sides of the Straits in every period, the governments put forward different policies; however, the basic position, basic principle and basic spirit are coming down in one continuous line and keeping innovating. These policies will contribute to solve the Taiwan question and achieve national reunification.
