The film industry has become a huge cultural industry after 100 years history of development. From the industrial age to the information age, the legal protection of film faces many new challenges. In view of simple study of Chinese law experts, this paper systematically studied on the concept, ownership, rights, protection and restrictions of cinematographic works.On the conceptual issue, the composition elements of films were analyzed. And the paper focused on the active images, sound, whether produced through the formation, whether through screening equipment, reproduction and originality, and other factors. And the concept of the film was definite theoretically.On the issue of the rights owner, the author compared mainstream academic viewpoints and model national legislation. On the basis of this, the author researched the multiple subject of films under the information age, put forward self points which focused on cooperation author list, actor as author, and subject of producers. In the part of the right content, the paper studies copyright rights of films at the Information Age, which mainly divided into personal rights and property rights. And then itemized analysis the empowerment of films.Finally, pointed to the film feature under the information age, this paper studied the new tendency of American film copyright protection through"Family Entertainment and Copyright Act"as key targets and its implications to Chinese copyright protection.
