Crewmember, it is becoming an important job, while China is gradually becoming a powerful position from a big country in the international shipping environment, it is particularly important to protect the interests of the crew. In our country, many scholars and experts have been studying the compensation of the jury and death of the crew, but the study of the compensation and insurance for crew illness or injury or death is not yet perfect, I selected the topic and study the domestic and international relevant legislation, conventions, trade practices, to get some idea about this area and try to get some perfect theory in these area.The thesis includes foreword and some summarization and the relevant national and international law about crew illness or injury or death, total 5 chapters.In the first chapter, I introduce the conception crew illness, injury and death and indemnity. And explain the words such as crewmember, crew illness and injury and death, also summarize some idea of protection and indemnity for these incidents.In Chapter II, I study the international convention, law, and the guild regulation about the compensation and insurance of crew illness or injury or death. I review MARITIME LABOUR CONVENTION, 2006 as an important content.In Chapter III, I study the law about crew illness and injury or death in HONG KONG, TAIWAN and ENGLISH, U.S.A., JAPAN and so on. By learning these laws, we can get to know some perfect article and compare with the relevant article.In Chapter IV, I focus on the national crew illness or injury or death, and discuss the national law about these questions. In section one, listing all the relevant law; in section two and three, analyzing the foundation of the responsibility and the principle; in the section four, discussing the principle of the protection for crew illness and injury or death; in section five, I narrate the main right part and the main responsibility part, the compensation principle, the range and the criterion while some bad result.Chapter V is the conclusion part of the thesis. After analysis the national and international law about crew illness and injury or death, and give the opinion of myself. Also I give some suggestion for CREW ACT (SEAMAN'S ACT) which would be produced in the future.In conclusion, crewmember is the base of our county to become powerful navigation country. We must pay attention to the advantage of our crew, and we should have the method to face the crew illness and injury or death, so as to protect crew as a normal occupation in the world.
