Since the world is becoming more global, the study on international relation theories has become more and more famous. Scholars oversee have paid a lot of attention to Thucydides' international relationship theories which he showed in his book, The History of the Peloponnesian. However these studies in China have just started, so I will dissertate Thucydides' international relationship theories from power and advantage, equipollence and conflict theories.This article includes three parts:The first part is about Thucydides' life and composing. The polis traits provided a good environment for the foundation of Thucydides' international relationship theories; the activities between each polis during Peloponnesian war gave Thucydides good materials to study. Meanwhile Thucydides' personal experiences were one of the important factors.The second part discusses Thucydides' international relationship theories from 3 factors: power and advantage, equipollence and conflict theories. Power and advantage is the basic theory of international relationship and it is the motive of all international activities. Equipollence is the state every polis tries to stay. Confliction as an inevitable production is an important factor when studying international relationship. Thucydides showed us his international relationship theories through his analyze on activities between polis.The third part is talking about the influence of Thucydides' international relationship theories. All though his theories are not consummate, but his theories had a lot of influence on the foundation of international relationship theory, even modern international relationship.
