| Chinese traditional legal system has been in unprecedented crisis when confronted with modem occidental legal thought that was introduced into China as a heterogeneous civilization since 1840. Pioneered by missionaries, Chinese envoys and students abroad also played an important role in diffusing modem occidental legal thought; Law education in modem China promoted the cultivation of law talents and the update of ideas; And lastly, foreign accredited organizations made a certain contributions. The diffusion of legal thought and the change of legal ideas impelled the innovation of legal system in modem China, which adopted occidental legal thought as mainstream in the modernization of Chinese legal system. All the above-motioned factors didn't work alone. They interacted with each other on different level, and eventually converged into impetus to the modernization of Chinese legal system.
