Following the principles of the union of history and logic, the unity of theory with practice, this paper studies the dynamic development of the Marxist view of theory and its rich theoretical content, on the basis of which the practical significance of the Marxist view of theory is analyzed. This paper consists of three parts. The first part discusses the history of the Marxist view of theory, which underwent four stages of development: 1) the stage of the idealist view of theory (the University of Bonn, 1835—Doctoral Dissertation, 1839); 2) the embryonic stage of the scientific view of theory (Rheinische Zeitung, 1942—Deutsch-franzosische Jahrbucher or German-French Annals of 1844); 3) the formation stage of the scientific view of theory (Economic & Philosophical Manuscript of 1844—Communist Manifesto of 1848); 4) the enriching and developing stage of the Marxist view of theory (On Capital, 1867—late-year correspondence, 1883)The second part deals with the theoretical content of the Marxist view of theory, which is embodied in the following four aspects: 1) the nature and characteristics of theory; 2) the status and function of theory; 3) the relationship between theory and practice; 4) the attitude toward theory creation. The third part is devoted to the discussion of the practical significance of the Marxist view of theory.
