The United Nations is the largest Inter-Governmental Organization of the world today. It has exerted great influence in the maintenance of the world peace and the promotion of human development. China,as the largest developing country of the world, has gone through a back-and-forwards process in its relations with the United Nations. China has gradually participated into various projects of the United Nations since the resume of its legitimate status in the UN and has also extensively engaged itself in diplomatic efforts on the grand stage of the UN together with the other nations.Since the end of the Cold War, the bipolar pattern characterized by the confrontation of America and the Soviet Union has collapsed and different powers have redefined and regrouped themselves. This has provided unprecedented opportunity for the exertion of the function of the UN. The world after the Cold War is still not tranquil with the regional conflicts and the existence of the gap between the South and the North and the increase of the global issues. The world needs the UN more than ever. The Chinese government has also begun to regulate its diplomatic strategy after the Cold War with taking the UN as a most important arena of diplomacy, through which China can be better engaged in the International Regimes and the multi-lateral and multi-directional diplomacy. This diplomatic arena can also facilitate China's integration into the international society and the establishment of China as a powerful country with reputable image. Therefore, it is of crucial sense to do a research on the UN diplomacy of China after the Cold War.The thesis makes a research and summary on China's diplomatic activity and content in the UN after the Cold War. It holds that the content of China's UN diplomacy since the end of the Cold War is diversified and colorful. On the one hand, China extensively participated into the UN projects in every aspect, which includes the projects in the field of politics, security, economy and development and so on. On the other hand, China supported the reform of the UN. The Chinese government has not only states its support for the reform of the UN in different occasions but also confirmed its principles and standpoint in paper. At the same time, China has also actively participated in theconcrete process of the UN reform, thus pushing the development of the UN reform along the healthy way.In the UN diplomacy in the future, China, as the permanent member of the UN security council should also use its veto flexibly. Facing the huge project of the UN reform, China should keep initiative and prudence to face various and different plans and suggestions on UN reform, should advance the development of the UN reform in a healthy way ,should devote to the world peace and the human co-development as China could.
