The United Nations is the largest Inter-Governmental Organization of the world today. It has exerted great influence in the maintenance of the world peace and the promotion of human development. China,as the largest developing country of the world,has gone through a back-and-forwards process in its relations with the United Nations. China has gradually participated into various projects of the United Nations since the resume of its legitimate status in the UN and has also extensively engaged itself in diplomatic efforts on the grand stage of the UN together with the other nations.Since the end of the Cold War, the bipolar pattern characterized by the confrontation of America and the Soviet Union has collapsed and different powers have redefined and regrouped themselves.
