Under the wave of globalization, many countries and regions try to develop FreeTrade Zone (FTZ) to avoid marginalization. Besides the effect of stimulatingeconomy, FTZ also benefits companies for better allocating their resources andconstructing global logistics strategies. Consequently, develop FTZ, a way that triesto cope with the ever-moving economic situation, is a trend in the world.Although the different regimes across Taiwan Strait, Mainland China and Taiwanboth take the same step to develop FTZ when facing threats of internationalcompetition and globalization. This thesis will discuss and compare law structure forFTZ across the Taiwan Strait, not only to understand the develop of FTZ and relatedpolicy of the two sides, but also to provide a platform for sharing experiences andopinions. Moreover, this thesis tries to assess the possibility of further cooperation onrelated issues between two sides. In order to clarify the comparison, this thesischooses Taiwan Kaohsiung Free Trade Harbor Zone and Shanghai Waigaoqiao FreeTrade Zone, the representative FTZ from each side, as example for discussing.This thesis collects related researches and journals, with document analysismethod, to compare the Kaohsiung Free Trade Harbor Zone and the ShanghaiWaigaoq Free Trade Zone. The research result shows legislation in Taiwan.This thesis also provides suggestions for future development of FTZ acrossTaiwan Strait. For Taiwan, authority should consider the reasonable amount of FTZ;to better and efficient allocate the limited resources. As for China, a special lawshould be the first priority. Hope the FTZ across the Taiwan Strait can bring furthercooperation between two sides and creates a win-win partnership to benefit all thepeople.
