For twenty years, white collar-crime has developed dramatically in China, causing enormous losses, polluting society and challenging authority. Therefore, the primary problem before Criminology in China is to find efficacious white-collar crime precautionary measures. In the response, on the basis of white-collar crime cases inspected from 1998 to 2003 by the procuratorators in Sichuan province, this article draws an outline of present status and characteristics of white-collar crime. Furthermore, this article probes into the causes of white-collar crime from six perspectives, including society, politics, economy, culture, individuals and victims, and suggests a range of white-collar crime precautionary measures from moral, social and judicial tiers.
