Since 1990s,there have been a great number of young American citizens living in Tingjiang, featured as a well-known hometown for overseas Chinese in Fuzhou. Guided by theories related to anthropology and sociology, and by means of combing analysis of documentary materials with fieldwork researches, the dissertation focuses study on those young Americans entrusted to the case of their relatives in Tingjiang as an object. On the basis of the history about the immigration from Tingjiang to America, the dissertation delves into the emergence and development of this special phenomenon, while it also depicts those young people's lives and studies there, and the influence of the phenomenon exerted onto Tingjiang. It pointes out that the phenomenon is resulted from two factors: the mass immigration from Tingjiang to American after China's reform and open policy, and those immigrant's living and developing situations in America. Therefore, it is a special phenomenon under the specified condition. In addition, the study probes into the future of the children left in the case of their relatives in Tingjiang.
