The third party logistic(sfor short, 3PL) industry, as a new industry in the national economy system, is undergoing a rapid development all over the world. The development degree of 3PL has been used to weigh the modernization level and the gross national power of a country. Nowadays, in the logistics developed countries, the 3PL corporations are expanding their sizes, occupying the markets rapidly and aiming to be growing concentrative. Thus it can be seen that it has practical importance to study the industrial concentration level and the factors which influence the level about the 3PL industry in China. Especially after our country join into the WTO organization, due to the stepwise abolishment of the provisos in the Chinese logistics market, the entrance of the increasing multinational 3PL corporations into the domestic market will aggravate the mutual competition. As a result, it has become an urgent problem to optimize the industrial structure and enhance the international competence of 3PL. This paper, first of all, described some measure theories of the industrial concentration ratio and the relation between industrial concentration ratio and market structure. Through these theories, the paper analyzed the market structure, the industrial concentration ratio status of Chinese 3PL industry. And after turned to some econometric model and the correlative computation methods, the leading influencing factors of the industrial concentration ratio were analyzed. Hereby, we attempt to find out some strategies and approaches which will help to improve the industrial concentration level of the Chinese 3PL industry and to accelerate the development of the whole industry. The detail discussion and main contribution are listed as follows: (1) First of all, through contrasted the 3PL industries in China with the logistics developed countries, the paper draw a conclusion that the industrial concentration level of the Chinese 3PL industry is still low. Currently, the market structure of the Chinese 3PL industry is staying on the monopoly VI phase, which was based on the Bain's taxonomy about the market structure. (2) The causes of low industrial concentration ratio of the Chinese 3PL industry was analyzed by means of researching the correlative influencing factors, such as scale economies, market size, entry and exit barriers, production diversities, science and technology, policies and rules. The study showed that actually the economy scale of the 3PL industry in China is far less than the logistics developed countries. And the whole industry is under the condition of low efficiency, single service style, antiquated technologies and equipments, incomplete productivity. Furthermore, there the ineffective entry barrier, the high exit barrier and some other problems, for instance, serious block division, bad development environment and lacking industrial policies, existed in the Chinese 3PL industry. (3) The foreign mature model which is fit for analyze the influencing factors of industrial concentration ratio, associating with the actual characteristics of the Chinese 3PL industry, was adopted to ascertain the variables of influencing factors. And through the multivariable regression method in econometrics, we established regression model and drew a conclusion that there are some chief factors, such as scale economies, market size and industrial policies, which influence the industrial concentration ratio of the Chinese 3PL industry. (4) As a result of the model analysis about influencing factors of the industrial concentration, the strategies which are suitable for developing Chinese 3PL industry, and the feasible approaches which include the perfectness of industrial policies, the integration of resources among the logistics corporations and the establishment of modernize logistics enterprises were discussed in this paper.
