This paper provides an overview of the most recent attempts by the literature to explain the relationship between ownership structure and enterprise performance. The empirical evidence currently available is analyzed. Two main theoretical ideas are identified and described. The paper explains the reasons that ownership structure is irrelevant to enterprise performance in empirical study and finds that non-property ownership structure can influences management efficiency, and then management efficiency influences enterprise performance. The paper selects some data of China Stock Market in 2002 and analyzes those, which proves that transfer chain does exit and points that ownership structure isn't the most factors of enterprise performance. The main results of the literature are explored and directions for future research are suggested.
