The natural environment is the foundation of survival and development of human being. With the growth of economic and population and the acceleration of urbanization, environmental problems became more and more serious. As an important part of the natural environment, forest resources plays an important role in social development and improvement of natural environment, government and scholars pay more and more attention to it. Because of their own characteristics, there is a lot of problems both at the theoretical level or the practical level. In this paper, I will make an analysis for legislations about forestry crimes in Chinese history, with modern prevailing legal theory. Focal points of this paper are forestry protection thoughts of Qin and Han dynasty and the evolution of forestry crimes legislation in Tang, Song, Ming and Qing. On this basis, combined with modern theory of criminal law, I will make a discussion about the characteristics of forest crime and compare them with the existing criminal law, to make some beneficial suggestions for today's forestry crimes legislative reforms.
