Robbery is an illegal act with the purpose of possession, which uses violence, coercion or other means to rob property forcibly. For robbery is a common and serious crime against property, so which has long been concentrated by the scholars of China's criminal law. Robbery not only holds a high incidence, the profound devastating of human body and property, but also holds the various and complex patterns in reality. As robbery shares many similarities with the kidnapping which aims to blackmailing and the illegal detention dun crime, coupled with the complexities of social reality and criminal behavior, the three kinds of crime often intertwine together and twist our judiciary for long, also, which has been a contentious issue in academic community. This paper starts with the robbery case of Wu Yaoguo, through the use case study, intending to distinguish the difference between the three kinds of crime referred above, and evaluate the case.The subject is divided into three parts.Part one introduces the case and the trial, and then sums up the disputes that how to qualitative Wu's deeds in the case.Part two analyzes the disputed issue in the case. This part focuses on the identification of robbery, kidnapping and illegal detention dun crime.Part three investigates the difference between the three kinds of crime, analyzes the jurisprudence on the trial of Wu's case and affirms the result of the trial.
