The camel industry is an important part of animal husbandry in the desert and semi-desert steppe in the northern and north western part of China. Development of the camel industry is related to harmonious development of the economy, society, and environment in the desert area. Proper use of desert and desert steppe resources combined with conservation of biodiversity should be the basis of this development. Based on theories of animal husbandry economics, qualitative and quantitative analysis methods were used to review the Alashan animal husbandry's developing status and to analyze the developing status of the camel industry, its restricting elements and advantageous conditions. Camel industry developing trends, optimized distribution, large scale production, feeding style transition, improvement of technical standard, industrialized management, and selection of appropriate marketing management were brought forward in this thesis. At the same time, countermeasures and suggestions for basic facilities establishment, policy for encouragement of a healthy development of the camel industry, clearance of the property rights, setting up of the damage insurance, selection of seeds stock, disease prevention, improvement in farmers' educational level, and improvement in the social service system were mentioned to provide references in decision-making for the government, enterprise managers, and farmers about how to develop the camel industry.
