With the speeding up of economic globalization, the creation, occupation and utilization of intellectual resource has become a critical factor of a country to achieve the competition advantage and improve the overall national strength. To China, the strengthening of intellectual property rights protection is not only the necessity of creating a good investment environment, but also the objective requirement of guaranteeing the comprehensive, coordinative and endurable development of economy.With China's entering into the World Trade Organization, China has already amended its trademark law in accordance with TRIPS Agreement and has made great efforts to improve the trademark protection. As for domestic enterprises, some of them have come to realize the importance of trademark, carried out trademark strategies for their development and gained competition in the world market.While trademark protection, being one important part of intellectual property rights, has not received the same attention as other intellectual properties. Many domestic enterprises still have not enough awareness of the importance of trademark and its functions, so that seldom of them registered their trademarks abroad. Consequently, many domestic trademarks including some well-known marks and old well-known marks have been preemptively registered by foreign individuals or companies, which has made China's mark owners suffer great loss and hindered their way to international market. Then, facing the more and more severe competition from home and abroad, domestic enterprises should paid more attention to their trademark protection, have correct trademark strategies and increase their competitiveness. This is also the main purpose of this thesis.This thesis includes four chapters.Chapter One introduces the fundamentals of trademark, including the basic concepts,development of trademark system home and abroad, and some internationalagreements related to trademark protection;Chapter Two discusses China's trademark protection, of which well-known markprotection in China's foreign trade is the main part, and the well-known markprotection in Japan and the US is also discussed as reference;Chapter Three is about the geographical indication, including the basic concepts ofgeographical indication and its protection in foreign countries, such as France andthe US, and its protection and application in China;Chapter Four gives some specific suggestions to China's well-known markprotection, trademark strategies of domestic export enterprises and agriculturalproducts export.
