"Under the doctrine of reasonable expectations, the objectively reasonable expectations of applicants and intended beneficiaries regarding the terms of insurance contracts will be honored even though painstaking study of the policy provisions would have negated those expectations." Since the doctrine first was articulated by Professor Keeton in 1970s, it has gained widespread acceptance among both judges and academic scholars. It is well worth introducing it into China and striving to integrate it into our legal system.
