Research On The ASP-Based IT/IS Adoption Mode For Voluntary-Chain Organizations

We try to find out the effective way of managing the IT/IS adopting process and activities of Voluntary Chain Organizations (VCOs) after analyzing and researching the characteristics of the management and operation of VCOs and its IT/IS application fields. Thinking strategically, the operation of Voluntary Chain of retail SMEs can add value in their value chains. How to outsource its IT/IS business is the key to improve the competitive advantages of VCOs.We research and find out that to apply the ASP-based IT/IS adoption mode to VCOs can make up the disadvantage and/or inability of VCOs when adopting IT/IS and that the mode is the ideal application mode for VCOs. We propose the method and procedure for VCOs' IT/IS adoption according to the feature of their industry, i.e., the headquarters of VCOs represent the whole organization to chose a competent ASP to form a strategic alliance with it and build an Integrated Comprehensive Application and Service IS Platform (ICASP-IS) for those voluntary chain stores who are inability and don't have the interest to build there own IS. We check the possible problems of this mode carefully and analyze the advantages and disadvantages of it finally.
