Ports and stations, including harbors, airports, railway stations and highway stations, are very important parts of transportation infrastructure. As a kind of assets, ports and stations are competitive, at the same time, they are public because they are . nodes in transportation net, and the places where suppliers of transportation and their customers make business. Ports and stations can connect passengers and cargos and they are very important to the smooth flowing of them. This thesis is focus on ports and stations. We study the character of ports and stations, and their management modes, define ports and stations as transportation infrastructure with the character of public and competitive to some extent. Through the research we try to give some theory reference to reform of management of port and station in China.Chinese ports and stations have developed greatly for several years built. They solved the problem from "be able to flow" to "flowing well", and promoted the development of national economics. There are so many ports and stations in China and they are different in scale and management mode. The infrastructure and management has improved, but there are steal many problems in the operating and management of ports and stations. With the trend of globe economics, the setup of market economics system and the development of modern logistics, the function and management mode of traditional ports and stations couldn't apply to environment of economics and policies to some extent. So we have to explore the management mode that can apply to development of modern ports and stations, solve the problems and promote them to develop.The article has 6 sections totally. The 1st section introduced research background, sense and means simply. The 2nd section elaborated ports and stations' characters and the theory of management mode, including the theory of public goods, theory of ownership, theory of infrastructure and theory of assets characters. Based on this, the 3rd section analyzed the main characters of ports and stations, including the function of ports and stations, and their publicity and competitiveness as transportation infrastructure. Then we defined that ports and stations were transportationinfrastructure with publicity to a certain extent. The 4th section firstly analyzed present management mode of the ports and stations in China. Through the analysis of present situation and development trends of ports and stations, we find the main problems of management of ports and stations. Combined with environment of macroscopic polices, we offered the realistic basis for the fact that the reform of the management mode of ports and stations. The 5th section studied foreign typical management mode of ports and stations, in order to find some references to the reform of management mode of ports and stations in China. Basis on the analysis made in the last section, we give the main framework and measurements of management mode reform of Chinese ports and stations.
