| From the spring of 2003, with the speedup of industrialization and urbanization in China, Chinese steel industry has been growing up significantly. The output and consumption of steel products have been increasing greatly, and the price of steel products has been going up. As the result, all the public firms in steel sector have shown good performances in 2003. But with the increasing producing capability the Chinese steel market will go to a supply-demand balance, which means the steel price will not go up greatly like in 2003 or even go down. The performances of the respective public firms in steel sector will differ a lot. In this article, the author designs a model in order to figure out the most competitive steel public firms in China in 3-5 years.There are two parts in this article. In the first part (Brief introduction to steel industry and Chinese steel industry), the author introduces briefly the characteristic of steel industry and the development of Chinese steel sector. In the second part (Competitive analyses on Chinese public steel firms), the author designs a two-dimension model to figure out the most competitive firms in both efficiency and financial health. At last, the author gives a deep look to the figured-out steel firms. |
