A Tentative Study On How To Maintain Peace Between China And ASEAN

Development is a particularly severe issue for China. ASEAN plays an important role in China's national security and economic development. Good relationship between China and ASEAN is helpful for China's modernization. Both China and ASEAN want to keep the peaceful status as long as it could be. Keeping the peaceful status in the region corresponds to the interests of China and ASEAN. This paper wants to find out the ways to keep and develop the peaceful status between China and ASEAN. Writer of the paper believes that the following five functional mechanisms and regional regime are rational and effective to reach that goal above mentioned : 1. To develop effective regional security regime. 2. To cultivate joint economic profit between China and ASEAN. 3. To form a new and equitable national security culture in the region. 4. To restrict each participator's military development which will not break the power balance. 5.To establish China's new image in the region and the world.
