Because of the great changes of international situation that took place before and after the cold war, international strategic structure has undergone significant adjustments and construction. In order to play a key role in the international political arena in the 21st century, every country has been adjusting its foreign strategy. The Republic of Korea is no exception. The focuses of synthesis and analysis in this paper are the adjustments of foreign strategy of the Republic of Korea and the Korean-American relationship.On the purpose of getting a general understanding and evaluation of Korea's foreign strategy, we should have a good knowledge of Korea's foreign strategy and foreign policy. On the base of explaining the connotation of strategy, the author analyzes Korea's foreign strategy during the cold war, and divides it into two parts chronologically: the formation of the Korea-America Alliance and the development of the alliance. Then she expounds the internal and external reasons that caused the adjustments and the specific contents of the adjustments, including political, economic and military aspects and so on. The last part of the paper is a prospect of Korea's foreign strategy, which includes simple analysis and prediction of the future of the Korea-America Alliance and a conclusion that the Korea-America Alliance will go on existing under the state of contradiction and integration, but there is no plain sailing.
