As an emerging power, China needs a peaceful and stable environment of security around its borders to further its development. However, its peculiar geographical position, which is compounded by land and sea, and its complicated geo-environment in borders, make it confront the predicament in geographical environment and peripheral security in the course of emerging. Thus, choosing appropriate geo-strategic focal points in the surrounding areas, and making correct peripheral geo-strategy in order to weaken or break through this predicament have become an urgent task for us. According to the relevant theories of geo-strategy, this treatise gives deeper analysis of the geographical situation of China and its peripheral geo-environment at the beginning of the 21st century. Furthermore, on the basis of such analyses, this treatise probes emphatically into the focal points of China's geo-strategy around its borders in the early 21st century. Through these analyses, it concludes that the important strategic position of Southeast Asia and Middle Asia enables them to possess important strategic significance to China, thus, enhancing the strategic management of these areas will contribute to weakening, and even breaking through the impact of above-mentioned predicament on China, therefore it should be regarded as the focal points of China's geo-strategy around its borders in the new century.
