The reform of the rural land system has been an important problem all the time. Some national and foreign scholars have studied it, made much fruitful achievements and gave some constructive and creative opinions and suggestions. However, most studies of China's rural land system performance are qualitative and the quantitative ones are very few. With the further improvement of our rural land system reform and the continuous advent of new problems around the rural land, it seems very indispensable to discuss the performance of the rural land system reform on the basis of the combination of the qualitative and quantitative studies of the contribution of the reform to the growth of the rural economy. It is just the starting point of the argumentation of this paper. The paper analyzes the performance of China's rural land system reform through the combination of the qualitative and quantitative metholds en the basis of the demonstration of the fundamental theories.The train of thought of this paper is to analyze the performance, limitation and the direction of the further rural land system reform through the use of the fundamental theories of institutional economics. This paper contains four parts. The first chapter presents the fundamental theories about the change of the rural land system, the second analyzes the performance of China's rural land system reform, the third studies the contribution of our rural land system to the growth of econmy, and the last gives some policy suggestions after analyzing the attempts of perfecting China's rural land system.
