Criminal defence system of counsels, which is established and developed at the theoretical core of "the accused has the ringt to get defence", is an important part of penal law system. Whether the criminal defence system of counsels is perfect is usually taken as an important symbol of measuring the scientific & democratic level of a country's criminal judicial system. UN criminal judicial norms which are regarded as international standards in criminal justice are the standards, norms and policies relating to criminal justice(the document is named as "the United Nations standards and norms in crime prevention and criminal justice") formulated, confirmed & initiated by the United Nations since it was established in 1945. As a founder and permanent member state of safely council of the United Nations, China has joined in and signed about twenty international human-right conventions in succession including "the Treaties of Economy, Society and Cultural Right", and it bears responsibility for abiding by the international norms in criminal justice and referring to it so as to give impetus to the reform in China criminal justice. Counsels' criminal defence system of China undergoes a developing course of undulation and continual change & progress. The present system has absorbed and drawn on the experience of some international standards of criminal defence system. It is on the whole more rational and progressive, but there are still gaps as compared with UN norms in criminal justice. As a professional lawyer under this system,I write this paper so as to try to let judicial personnel and the whole society to further understanding the international norms of counsels' criminal defence system.
