Study On The Development Strategy Of Modern Logistics In Sichuan Province

Since the 1980's, external environment of enterprises has become more and more unpredictable. And to cope with this change, enterprises will probably cut down logistics cost, as a new strategy for standing up competition and promoting interest rate. Consequently, in the developed western countries, logistics has become one of the most eye-catching new business fields of great value creation potential.Logistics business has also developed rapidly in China since the 1990's. Both the central government and local governments have strengthened investments in logistics, and many modern logistics facilities (for example, logistics centers) were set up. However, the current measures have not yet changed thoroughly the backward state of logistics development in China. There is still a great gap between the competitiveness of the logistics enterprises in China and that of the logistics enterprises in developed countries, no matter in view of the macro regulation and guidance of government or of the infrastructure for logistics.Sichuan is an inland province in West China, and it is of great practical significance for Sichuan to quicken the development of modern logistics in a leap-forward way-this is both the internal demand of the economic development in Sichuan and a necessary measure of shortening the economic gap between the inland area and the developed coastal areas and of standing up the national and international economic competitions.This paper discusses the relation between modern logistics and the economic development in Sichuan under the WTO environment. The discussion is made on the basis of comparisons and analyses of modern logistics and traditional logistics, the current situations of logistics development in China and in developed western countries. After an analysis of the current situation of logistics development in Sichuan and with special consideration of the chance and problems facing Sichuan logistics development, in the thinking way of principle of working out strategic goals-trend-development situation-guiding thoughts, the paper puts forward an overall goal and a specific short-time goal for the development of Sichuan logistics business. Based on the above-mentioned achievements, the paper also discusses the strategic measures that should be adopted for the development of logistics in Sichuan. Finally, with regard to way of realization, it proposes and focuses on the strategic programme of a Chengdu-centered local logistics system in Sichuan.
