DongFang Steam Turbine Works (shorted to DFSTW) is a typical large-scale state-owned enterprise specializing in manufacturing power plant facilities such as steam turbines and gas turbines equipment, etc. With the changes in the generation facility market, it is faced with increasingly keener competition in the same industry from both domestic and abroad. To improve management level and enterprise competitiveness has become the main task of enterprise leaders. ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning) is aiming at the effective planning and controlling of every respect of enterprise resources, strengthening financial management, improving capital operation level, establishing highly effective supply chain, reducing stock, increasing productivity, lowering cost, boosting customer service standard, and meanwhile, providing scientific foundation for high-rank management personnel when decisions are made. And eventually enterprise competitive advantages are completely established and market competitiveness is elevated. In case of all those advantages, DFSTW decides on the implementation of ERP system. However, due to the present management and culture situation, there will be some difficulties during the implementation. To prepare the implementation smoothly and achieve anticipated goals are the urgent tasks to be solved by DFSTW management. This paper is targeting the above task and carefully making investigations and research in accordance with DFSTW's practical. After that, it puts forward corresponding counter measures and ideas for the guidance of DFSTW ERP application practice, domestic manufacturers and other ERP implementation enterprise for reference.
