Enterprises are the micromain-part of the socialist market economy and entrepreneurs the organizers and directors of enterprises' production and management activities. At present, China is shifting from a traditional planned economic system to a socialist market economic system, while the managers of enterprises under planned economy are not, in a real sense, the entrepreneurs that the market economy requires. Therefore, the cultivation of China's entrepreneur stratum is a major issue at the present stage.The foreword of this thesis analyses the theme, significance, method and basic train of thought of the cultivation mechanism in China's transition period.This thesis will discuss the cultivation mechanism of China's entrepreneur stratum from four aspects as follows:Chapter one gives a brief account of entrepreneur theories of Chinese and foreign economists', through which the writer clarifies the meaning of "entrepreneur", demonstrates entrepreneurs' main-body position in the socialist market economy and puts forward a way of cultivating China's entrepreneur stratum, that is, the establishment of the cultivation mechanism can only be based on the attentive research on China's traditional culture background and present social situation.Chapter two deals with the research on China's traditional culture. First, the writer analyses the unfavourable influence of China's traditional moral culture upon the growth course of Chinese entrepreneurs, such as, lack of rational spirit, ignorance of individual interests and neglect of concept of competition. Second, the writer further analyses the harmful influence of "repressing commerce" thought in China's feudal society, revealing the reason for the lowest social status of businessmen is ancient times.Chapter three concerns the analysis of the growth environment of Chinese entrepreneurs and the present situation in the transition period. The writer first demonstrates the economic and cultural environment in China today, then expounds the growth environment of entrepreneurs in state-owned and private-owned enterprises, and finally points out the necessity of the establishment of a sound credible market environment as well as the evolutional orientation of entrepreneurial mechanism.Chapter four poses some suggestions of the cultivation mechanism. Firstly, suggestions of how to create a sound cultural environment beneficial to the healthy growth of Chinese entrepreneurs. Secondly, possible ways to set up a credible market environment. Finally, ideas for?the improvement of entrepreneurs' mechanism, e. g. mechanism of control rights, reward mechanism, competiton mechanism.
